From a Dream to 18 Holes
Some things are built with plans, blueprints and a crew of people working from beginning to end.
Knoll View Golf Course wasn't one of those things.
Knoll View was built with a dream, determination, hard work, family, friends, a whole lot of sweat and a few tears.
The story began in 1994, when Brian and Guy Knoll looked at the property and saw something others may not have seen. What had once been part of their excavation world could become something completely different—a place where people could gather, compete, relax, make memories and enjoy the outdoors.
They didn't have an 18-hole golf course sitting in front of them.
They had an idea.
And they started small.
Knoll View began as a driving range.
From there, Brian and Guy took the next step. They built three holes.
Three holes may not sound like much when you look at the course today, but those first three holes represented the beginning of something much bigger. They were the first physical proof that their dream could become reality.
Then came another hole.
And another.
And another.
Hole by hole, Brian and Guy built Knoll View.
There was no shortcut. No instant transformation. The land had to be shaped. The course had to be designed. Trees, terrain, elevation and water all had to be considered. Fairways had to be created. Greens had to be formed. Every part of the property had to be worked, refined and brought to life.
And they did it the way they knew how—with their own hands, their own knowledge, and an incredible amount of determination.
Eventually, the first nine holes came together.
But Brian and Guy weren't finished.
They had built nine holes, but they could see something bigger.
So they started again.
They took on the enormous task of creating a second nine, continuing to shape and develop the property until what began as a driving range and a handful of holes became a true golf course.
For years, the property changed.
The course grew.
The dream grew.
And the work continued.
By 2006, after years of hard work, perseverance and countless hours poured into the property, Knoll View officially opened as an 18-hole golf course.
But the course wasn't built by Brian and Guy alone.
Over the years, family and friends worked beside them, giving their time, strength, skills and hearts to help turn the dream into something real.
Some helped with construction.
Some helped with maintenance.
Some helped with the business.
And some simply showed up whenever there was work to be done.
There were long days.
There were difficult days.
There were probably days when the vision seemed like an enormous undertaking.
But Brian and Guy kept going.
Because they could see what Knoll View could become.
Today, the fairways, greens, trees, elevation changes and water features tell the story of all those years of work.
What people see today didn't simply appear.
It was built.
One hole at a time.
One day at a time.
One long day of work after another.
And at the center of it all were Brian and Guy.
Their vision is the foundation of Knoll View.
Their determination is in the land.
Their hard work is in the course.
And their fingerprints are on the place that has become so much more than a golf course.
From a driving range, to three holes, to a hole added one at a time, to the completion of the first nine, to the building of the second nine, and finally to an 18-hole golf course in 2006—Knoll View was never created overnight.
It was earned.
It was built through hard work, sacrifice, persistence and a belief in what was possible.
And that is the story of how a dream became Knoll View Golf Course.
When the Knolls Opened Their Backyard
Knoll View became a golf course, but somewhere along the way, it became something much bigger.
It became a place where people came together.
Long before the patio became the gathering place people know today, it was much smaller.
It was the Knoll family's private patio.
It was their backyard.
It was where the family gathered for graduations, family parties, birthdays and celebrations. It was where they shared meals, laughed together, told stories and simply enjoyed being with one another.
It was their place.
And then they opened Knoll View to the public.
In doing so, the Knolls didn't just invite people to play their golf course.
They invited people into their backyard.
A space that had once belonged only to family slowly became a place where the entire community could gather.
The patio grew.
The gatherings grew.
The friendships grew.
And the little family gathering place became an important part of Knoll View.
Today, people may see the patio as a place to grab a drink, have dinner, listen to music, celebrate an event or sit with friends after a round of golf.
But underneath all of that is something much more meaningful.
It started as a family patio.
Every table has the potential for a new story.
Every gathering adds another memory.
And every family, group of friends or community member who sits there becomes a small part of the continuing Knoll View story.
Angela Knoll—Guy's wife and Brian's mother—was part of that family journey. She helped wherever she could and became a familiar, smiling face around the course. She had a gift for making customers feel welcome and was always willing to pitch in wherever she was needed.
Some of the people who helped build Knoll View are still here.
Some have passed away.
New friends have joined the Knoll View team.
And through all of those years, the family has continued to grow.
Today, you can still find Guy on his golf cart, checking on the course, visiting with people or sitting at one of the bars with friends.
Brian still runs the business, continuing the work and vision that began decades ago.
And surrounding them is a Knoll View family made up of relatives, friends, employees, golfers and community members.
That is what Knoll View has become.
It isn't just 18 holes.
It is decades of memories.
It is birthdays, weddings, tournaments, fundraisers, graduations, celebrations and friendships.
It is where people have met for a round of golf and stayed for a drink.
It is where families have gathered, friendships have formed and stories have been told.
It is laughter coming from the patio.
It is music carrying across the property.
It is friends sitting together after a round of golf.
It is families celebrating milestones.
It is people coming back year after year because Knoll View feels familiar.
It feels like home.
And perhaps that is because, in a way, it is a family's backyard that was opened to everyone.
The Knolls took a place that held their own family memories and invited the community to make memories of their own.
Their private gatherings became community gatherings.
Their backyard became everyone's backyard.
And the memories that began with one family became memories shared by generations of families throughout the community.
That is why Knoll View is more than a golf course.
It is a legacy.
A legacy started by Brian and Guy, strengthened by family and friends, carried forward by generations, and written into the memories of everyone who has ever walked its fairways or sat together on its patio.
Knoll View wasn't simply opened to the public.
The Knolls opened a piece of their family to the community.
And the community has been making memories there ever since.
